Congratulations to the Water Warriors of Castleisland Community College, Co. Kerry, who are the official 2017 Water Explorer National Winners!!
Yesterday’s award ceremony was great fun and it would not have been possible without the cheery determination of all 5 of our Top Schools. A special thank you is in order to all participating teachers who have taken the time out to help turn their students into such successful Water Explorers!
Kiltegan National School, Co. Wicklow swam in at second place this year, showing that the strength of a few can truly make a difference to the many.
It was great to see both a primary and secondary school take the top slots this year as it proves that anyone can be a Water Explorer champion with enough effort!
The judges had a really hard time making their decision as the remaining finalists, Vicarstown National School from Co. Cork, The Donahies Community School from Dublin, and St. Michael’s Church of Ireland National School also from Co. Cork impressed everyone with their outstanding presentations. Whether they sang, rapped, or held a parade, these schools showed us that being a Water Explorer is more than just learning about water, it’s being creative and having fun with it too!
Although the school year is coming to a close, don’t forget that next year a whole new competition begins!
Who will be the 2018 National Champions?...
From modest beginnings in 1995, Global Action Plan Ireland have grown into a mature, national organisation that empowers as many communities as possible to adopt a greener lifestyle and thereby play their role in protecting planet Earth.
